A Sensory Sensitive Birthday is a Mega Fun or Ultimate Fun birthday party held during Sensory Sensitive Sundays — Chuck E. Cheese's inclusive monthly event featuring dimmed lighting, reduced music and game volumes, and a calmer overall atmosphere. Families choose which sensory modifications to include, making the celebration comfortable for children with autism or other sensory needs while keeping all the fun birthday elements in place. With 1 in 31 children in the United States on the autism spectrum, the need for inclusive family entertainment has never been greater. This experience was created with Autism Speaks to ensure every child can have a birthday they will never forget.

Years as the Birthday Capital of the Universe

As the largest autism organization in the U.S., Autism Speaks collaborated with Chuck E. Cheese to design the Sensory Sensitive Birthday experience. They co-sponsor the April fundraiser: guests who donate $5 at checkout receive 500 e-tickets, and birthday parties booked April 1-15 can unlock 5x the Ticket Blaster earnings with a $10 donation on party day. Chuck E. Cheese also serves as a Strategic Corporate Sponsor of the Autism Speaks Empower Walk and 5K Run in Miami, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago, and Orange County.

Real parents share what it meant to celebrate at Chuck E. Cheese during Sensory Sensitive Sundays. These are their words.
Parent 1: We are at Chuck E. Cheese in Austin, and we're celebrating my son's birthday. With my son's ADHD, a lot of things can be difficult, and so any chance to be able to celebrate him and do it in a way that's comfortable is fantastic. I would recommend Chuck E. Cheese for a sensory friendly birthday because of the flexibility that it allows — not only for my child, but for anyone who may be coming to celebrate him as well. We're able to be flexible and work with the staff at Chuck E. Cheese to make the experience really special each and every time.
Parent 2: I get really upset talking about this because it's hard when your kid is rejected and they feel like they don't belong somewhere. And at Chuck E. Cheese, we knew if we planned it on a Sensory Sensitive Sunday, everything was gonna be fine. And we were all gonna have a really, really good time.
Parent 3: It's like a milestone basically for them. And it builds a very pretty memory for the kids and the parents, you know, because they never had that before.
Every child deserves a birthday on their own terms. Book a Mega Fun or Ultimate Fun birthday party during Sensory Sensitive Sundays and let Chuck E. Cheese take care of the rest.
