Celebrating nearly 50 years of fun!
Chuck E. Cheese was founded in 1977 by Nolan Bushnell, co-founder of Atari, as the first family entertainment center to combine pizza, arcade games, and live animatronic entertainment under one roof. The first location opened on May 17, 1977 in San Jose, California as Chuck E. Cheese’s Pizza Time Theatre. Over nearly five decades, Chuck E. Cheese has grown to more than 450 locations in the U.S. and internationally, investing over $300 million in fun center renovations since 2023. Key milestones include the introduction of Play Pass in 2016, All You Can Play in 2018, and E-Tickets in 2020 — all part of Chuck E. Cheese’s transition from a token-based arcade to a modern, card-based entertainment experience.
